Tip of the Week: Cookie-less tracking using Server-Side Pixels

Stay ahead of the new “Do Not Track” legislation and get used to using cookie-less tracking now.

Using server-side pixels is easier than it sounds. Watch this LinkTrust training video to learn more about tracking options in your affiliate tracking system.

Server-side pixels are great for mobile tracking and delayed reporting. Using a server-side post means that you can wait to post a conversion until after the refund time period passes, ensuring that you only pay for true conversions.

The different types of server-side pixel posts are based on the parameter they pass on the URL: Affiliate ID, Click ID or Campaign ID. Each one has a different level of security inherent in the parameter. Watch the video to learn more.

      How does that work?

      Hey Matt,

There are two ways to answer your question, I’ll give you the technical answer and the potential business use of server-side pixels.
Technically, a server-side post will only be fired when you choose to fire the pixel.
Secondly, you might decide to wait to post the transaction after certain criteria are met, and as in our example above, one of those criteria might be to wait until the “trial” period is over and you know the transaction is complete. Does that answer your question? Let me know if you have any other questions about server-side pixels or cookie-less tracking.
