Tracking, It’s All About Options

LinkTrust has long provided multiple methods for tracking conversions. With the 6.8 release we added mobile application install tracking. We also made some adjustments to give you more control over the conversion tracking process.

There is now an option to disable cookie-based tracking. Disabling this tracking method does not prevent cookies from being written on the click, they are still written to support separating unique from non-unique clicks. Once you disable cookie-based tracking though, they won’t be used to track a conversion. This is especially useful if you are only planning on tracking conversions via click ID or AFID posts.

We’ve also enabled a global merchant pixel for click ID post tracking. You no longer need to specify a campaign ID on the conversion pixel when using click id posts. This means you can use the same conversion pixel for multiple campaigns when doing click ID post tracking.

We’ve also added some security options for both click ID and AFID post tracking. You can enable an IP whitelist and only allow conversions from white listed IPs.

Another new feature available for all tracking options is the ability to filter by duplicate merchant reference IDs. When this feature is enabled conversions will not be tracked if the merchant reference ID passed to the conversion pixel matches one previously seen for the campaign within the last ninety days. This feature also requires that a merchant reference ID be passed for the conversion to track, without one the conversion will not be tracked.

With all of these updated tracking options you can customize the tracking to best fit your business needs.
